In 2021, during COVID, we lost 80% of our income almost overnight. We were devastated. I knew I had a responsibility to provide for my family, and I thought the only way was a 9-to-5 retail job for the rest of my life.
The breaking point was walking into Angela's home office one time too many and seeing her trying to hide her tears.
I started applying for jobs, my first in over 35 years. The knot in my stomach was unbearable. The night before my first interview, I couldn't sleep at all.
Then Angela saw a video on Instagram and sent it to me. She said, "Maybe this is God giving us a nudge. Check it out."
A few days later, I was on the phone with a fifth-generation farmer who'd built an online business of his own. He gave me five minutes and an honest answer, and I trusted him.
It took work. We had to learn new skills and stay consistent. But it gave us hope again.
We're not rich. But this works for us, and it lets me stay home with Angela and enjoy some of those golden years.
